The Regional Unit of Drama is located in the northeastern part of Greece, on the border with Bulgaria and is perhaps the richest area of the country when it comes to its natural environment. It is surrounded by the mountains of Rhodope in the north, Menikio and Orvilou mountains on the west and Paggeo on the south. The mountain with the highest peak is Falakro, the "symbol of" Drama.
